Averitt Express, Inc. was presented with the Transportation Safety Award for 2016 by BB&T – Legge Insurance.

Averitt’s BASIC scores maintained a top-15 percent mark in the nation, earning the company a level of “Excellent” for the second year in a row through the BB&T – Legge Insurance Transportation Safety Recognition Program, an initiative designed to help promote the prevention of company related vehicle accidents.

“Averitt was the first carrier to receive this level of award last year,” Chuck Sparks, Vice President and Agency Manager, of BB&T – Legge Insurance said.

Even with the recognition of the award, Averitt will continue to explore progressive avenues to help ensure safe transportation.

“Safety is an important part of our culture,” John Walton, Averitt Director of Safety and Compliance, said. “We will continue to invest in technology, as well as training programs and awareness campaigns for our associates. And we’ll continue to focus on hiring associates who share our team’s focus on safety.”

To be eligible for the Transportation Safety Award, potential recipients must be clients of BB&T Insurance Services for at least 12 months, generate a minimum of $25,000 in Commercial Revenue, and have at least 20 vehicles in the fleet program.
