PUTNAM COUNTY – A discount tools and accessories retailer is set to fill a vacant storefront on South Willow Avenue in Cookeville.

Harbor Freight Tools, a California-based company known for “quality tools at ridiculously low prices,” is now hiring for the new location, according to listings posted to its website. Available positions include sales and warehouse associates, supervisors and head cashiers.

Harbor Freight offers more than 7,000 tools and accessories for automotive, shop and home. It will fill a spot at 120 S. Willow Ave, Cookeville, Suite B1, recently left vacant by Hancock Fabrics, which filed for bankruptcy for the second time in a decade in February. Great American Group of Los Angeles, the highest bidder for the fabric store’s remaining assets, is closing all 185 remaining locations nationwide. Stores in Chattanooga, Memphis, Johnson City and Kingsport shuttered at the end of July.

Harbor Freight, meanwhile, currently operates over 700 company-owned stores across the United States – including nine in Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Antioch, Nashville and more. It typically seeks out 13,000-15,000-square-foot storefronts with street visibility, ground-level loading door and tractor trailer access.
