TTU grad leads AM workout at Crossville complex; others in business community invited

CROSSVILLE – Nick Reed knows it’s best to engage in challenging physical training to stay healthy. As a graduate of the exercise science program at Tennessee Tech University, he has learned his lessons well. The Crossville resident finds the best time to train is early in the morning before he goes to work. For him that’s 6 a.m., five days a week.
At least a dozen other Crossville area residents think like he does, so they join the 26-year-old at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex for strenuous, 45-minute workouts.

Teacher survey show increased participation and strong job satisfaction numbers NASHVILLE – Tennessee educators reported improved work environments in a broad range of categories, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam announced today, in a survey that also shows a correlation to increased student achievement. The results from the second statewide TELL (Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning) Tennessee survey are now available, and more than 61,000 educators (82 percent) responded, a 5 percentage point increase from 2011.

CRMC Foundation’s Pet Therapy Fund helps cancer patients

COOKEVILLE – The Foundation at Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has announced a $2,250 grant to the hospital’s Cancer Center to purchase “My Personal Treatment Journals” for 75 cancer patients. These journals assist cancer patients to better understand their treatment process, what to expect, helpful information on a variety of topics and what resources might be available to them. The advisory committee of the Foundation’s Pet Therapy Fund recommended the grant. Cumberland Kia is now humming along in its new building on Interstate Drive after two years of planning and construction.Cumberland Auto Group, which owns the Kia dealership along with the adjacent Toyota and Dodge/Chrysler stores, plans to turn the old building, a former Lowe’s store, into a body shop and making the overall operation larger than it already is.
