COOKEVILLE – The community will have a chance to learn new techniques and express their creativity during Art Round Tennessee’s ARTalong Workshop Series this spring.

This series of three-hour workshops will be held April 2-May 21; local professional artists will teach classes in sculpture, printing, paper making, painting, drawing and fiber dyeing. ART Executive Director Marilee Hall said they’re able to offer these instructors and workshops thanks in part to funding by an Arts Build Community (ABC) grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission.

“Bringing artists and the community together is something the ARTalong workshops do well,” Hall said. “They allow artists to express themselves through teaching, and they nurture the creativity of the population.”

The $35 fee for each workshop covers the cost of materials and instruction. These events do not require any prior experience and are suitable for ages 11 and up. Each workshop, with the exception of colorwash paper making, will take place in Cookeville. Colorwash paper making with artist Claudia Lee will take place at the Liberty Paper Mill in Liberty. This workshop will offer participants a unique opportunity to visit a working paper mill and learn to make multi-colored paper using a Japanese technique. Carpooling will be available to make this workshop a spring outing for family and friends.

“We encourage family members and friends to sign up together for an extraordinary experience that they will remember and enjoy forever,” said ARTalong Director Arlene Dubo.

This year’s ARTalong workshop series will also include:
